[LASS Soaring] LASS Meeting Notes from 2/8/09

LASS Meeting Summery for February 8 2009

 

-          Dates were selected for our first two night flies. Additional 
dates will be decided based on participation at these two events.
The second Saturday evenings for both May and June were selected as the 
first dates. These are May 9 and June 13.  It is hoped the warmer 
weather will bring out more night fliers.

-          Dick Weidner talked about the indoor flying he and a group of 
guys are doing in one of the gyms at Evangel Christian Church located 
close to Outer Loop and I-65.  The group meets and flies on Saturday 
mornings from 8:00 -- 11:00am in an upstairs gym. Ceilings are about 
40ft. Pilots are asked for a donation only ($5.00 is about right)

    -          A long discussion about 2.4Ghz radio systems and our 
sailplanes went on for some time. Areas covered and discussed included 
instillation, best             type -- DSM or channel hopping type 
systems, what would happen on an 8 hour flight if the transmitter 
battery was swapped out.
 

    -          Since I forgot my notes and door prize they were put off 
till the next meeting which will be March 8. Same time and place.
 

-          It was also decided to have a yard sale meeting next time. 
Get out your old unused wings, fuselages or anything else you have you 
don't use anymore. Turn them into some cash for you and give the parts 
some new life.
