[LASS Soaring] A Note Comparing the bitter taste of cheap with the sweet tang of quality :-)

"I really like my new Seiko that I got for Christmas, I had a chance to
really check it out last night.

Someone made a comment on the exchange about a watch of lesser value -
perhaps starting early, or not being as accurate.

So I decided to run a 20 minute test of Seiko S321 vs. the Accusplit timer
that cost $15 so many years ago.

The test was count up to 20 minutes. At the end there was a disparity of
10/100ths of a second.

(That easily could have been caused by my left or right thumbs either not
starting or stopping the watches at precisely the same time as I started
one with my left hand and one with my right.)

At least with these two watches accuracy - I think it would be safe to say
is not an issue.

Yes the buttons on the 321 are sexier, feel better and the minute selection
switch is softer to turn and all that and it may last 20 years longer I
don't know. But for the pilot that needs to start on a entry level cost
accuracy can't be the argument as to why not select a watch that cost less. At
least not if the watches are this closely matched.
