 Tony,

Ed or Gordy probably know Brookville better than me as I have only flown there twice. The grassy dam non lake side of brookville works with a from the south wind or a southwest wind. When I was there flying that side it was really windy, probably 20 or 25 and yes I could feel the wind on my face if I was not right at the edge. But it was really blowing hard at the edge. I was flying this EPP sloper and I had all the lift I could possibly use. :) Captain Jack got his 8 hour that day and I made sure to not fly anywhere near him. :)

Brookville dam also works with winds from the north, northeast, northwest but north probably best. I flew one day with winds from the north/northwest. The north face of the dam is a big rock covered thing. Landing a nice plane on it would not be the way to go. :) The North face is not as tall as the south face because there is the lake there. It might only be say ~30 feet or so tall. South side is much taller, maybe 100 or 150 feet tall. When I was flying the north face the wind was kind of shifty but say ~10 mph or so. I was flying a heavy epp sloper and my flights were only say ~5 minutes or so. Probably a poly plane could have done better that day duration wise than I was getting from my epp sloper.

I really want to try Frankfurt with you guys some day.

Ed, does the wnd blow in your face while flying? At the Frankfort slope most of the time it does not unless you step up close to the edge.

Also you said...As long as the wind blows Brookville is a good site to do long LSF flights. Does that mean from any direction? If not what is the premo direction and wind speed?
