Hi Fritz,
Thanks for the post, really good content for all to read, but sorry you
missed the point too.
Go back to the original post, I never once mentioned that anything about
losing points for the flight, or whether I cared (or anyone else cared) about
gaining or losing contest points.
And really is there any contest pilot out in RCSE world that doesn't realize
that flying past the time is flying past the time?
The point of all of these posting is the celebration of achieving personal
goals. I'm kind of hoping that you are celebrating tearing down another pilots
achievement. But your post does add to the one thing that has driven so
many away from contests and kept others from getting involved.
The focus on winning and losing. A contest is the context of the hobby is a
place were like minded hobbyist can get together to test their skill levels
against their peers. This particular contest was exactly that, Reece decided
it was going to be a day for friends to share some amazing air and fun, and
he succeeded with honors. There were no prizes, no plaques, just a lot of fun
and smiles and camaraderie.
So sleep well knowing that I may or may not have lost points that day, but
DID get my CSS Bronze Level completed. And I'll request that my contest
standing be stricken from the AMA records for that day :-)
So lets hear which CSS Level you are working on!
Gordy
